History

The AAT technology was developed by Dawn Nowlin, a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DOM). With over 14 years of research and clinical application in the treatment of allergies and sensitivities, the technology has evolved from eliminating simple allergies to treating complex conditions also caused by errors in physiology.

In 1995, Nowlin began working with various alternative treatments for allergies and discovered the mechanism of positive conditioning. With the understanding that the body could be conditioned to accept any harmless substance, all other therapeutic approaches for the treatment of allergies were discontinued.

The primary objective was to identify the exact substance or micro-substance in which the body was reacting. This required countless trials with thousands of substances and associated components. Each time a patient responded, an important discovery was made and subsequent cases responded with consistent successful results.

A significant breakthrough occurred in discovering that the body could react inappropriately to substances produced by the body. This opened the doorway to identifying the cause of many conditions with no known etiology. The challenge was obtaining samples for treatment. Originally, the allergen substances that were used in the treatment were samples of the actual substance. The body could identify the substance from exposure the to surface of the skin.

Diluted allergen mixes and homeopathic samples were used for substances that were more difficult to obtain.

The body could still identify the substance from exposure to the skin in various forms.

However, it became necessary to research various technologies that could mimic the substances needed for treatment. AAT discovered that the transmission of digital signals to the surface of the skin was an effective and safe alternative in exposing the patient to allergens or substances involved in sensitivities. Although the mechanism is unknown, the results of the therapy have shown that the body is capable of interpreting the signals and correcting the error when the acupressure stimulation is applied.

With access to the vast number of substances, microsubstances or molecules responsible for symptomatic reactions, AAT has consistently shown that a large number of conditions or symptoms with unknown etiology are simply negative reactions that may be corrected without the use of drugs. Such breakthroughs included the discovery of the true culprits to some of the most common conditions treated by medical doctors, including sinusitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Acid Reflux. Medical science is currently unaware of the causes to these conditions and offers treatments with marginal results.

In 2003, the therapy was introduced to Australia with the opening of two clinics, in Sydney and Brisbane. AAT received extensive national media attention which caused rapid expansion with the opening of clinics in five of the major cities.

The developer sold the business three years later and directed efforts into converting the therapy into a software technology that would enable world wide licensing.
